A passion for drawing has always been a bold characteristic of Robert Hiew, ever since a very young age. Robert's procedures in oil paintings are mainly self-taught; though he had earlier received training in watercolour techniques when previously living in Malaysia. Robert has been enthusiastic in painting New Zealand landscapes for twelve years; mainly working with oil paint on canvas. Although he is capable of drawing many different subjects, Robert's paintings chiefly display the New Zealand blue-skied seacoasts highlighted by the fiery reds and emerald greens of the pohutukawa trees and local windswept beaches dotted with beautiful boats and yachts. His colourful, vibrant and bold depictions of New Zealand landscapes capture the imagination and enhance the viewer's memories of the actual locations. For the past five years, Robert's artworks have been displayed at the Auckland Mazda Artworks Exhibition. His paintings are displayed in galleries at several locations in Auckland and have also attracted clients from numerous overseas countries, including England, the United Stares, and Japan.
