Richard Adams is an Auckland based artist involved in a diverse range of artistically oriented pursuits including film, music, poetry and painting. He currently devotes his time to his painting and music and is involved in the jazz scene, as vocalist and violin player for the Nairobi Trio.
Adams creates structured abstract paintings and drawings and works in oils and acrylics on paper and canvas. Over the years his colour palette has progressed from bold primaries through to more muted shades. His recent work also employs a variety of mediums to add a textural dimension to his painting.
He has exhibited both individually and in group shows, in Auckland, Wellington, Queenstown, London and Japan.
Adams also works commercially and has had numerous art commissions including the North Harbour Stadium in Albany, the Todd Corporation, Gio Insurance and Petrocorp. His work features in many corporate and private collections.
