Maurie Angelo

Angelo was born in Dunedin, and holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Canterbury and a degree in Landscape Architecture from Lincoln University. He has taught art for 45 years in New Zealand, England, and Australia. Formerly a landscape architect and lecturer in Design at Lincoln University, Angelo is now a full time artist, who has a home and studio at Burkes Pass near the Southern Alps region of New Zealand. However due to his Italian heritage he visits Italy whenever possible. Angelo has received awards for recognition of art, teaching and design including a Woolfe-Fisher Fellowship. He has exhibited regularly for the past 30 years in New Zealand, Italy and Japan. Angelo also has collections in Italy, USA, UK, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. In 1996 Angelo was commissioned by Christchurch City Council to visit Seattle, USA, and produce paintings for the ?Seattle Comes To Christchurch? Art Project, supported by Lincoln University. This culminated in an exhibition opening with the University of Washington . He also exhibits annually in Italy at various venues.
