Sally Fagence
Sally has a background in graphic art having worked as a finished artist, visualiser and pasteup artist in the 70's. Other than training on the job she has no other formal training and consequently likes to work intuitively.
She has been painting professionally for the past 16 years from her home based studio in the bush on Aucklands North Shore. The monochromatic palette is one she has been exploring for several years incorporating silver leaf compound and a bitumen based varnish. Plus oil or acrylic paint on canvas. As of late she has been working with colour again but in a diffused fashion.
When not painting she tutors from her studio and enjoys experimenting with collage and drawings. She exhibits regularly and relates to a quote from Andy Warhol ... ''Art is whatever you can get away with''
